Blake Shelton planning Christmas album

(WENN) - Country star Blake Shelton is getting into the Christmas spirit six months early - he's recording his first holiday album.

The singer is planning to go up against artists like rocker Rod Stewart, Smokey Robinson and Meat Loaf, who have also started work on their own festive releases, in the charts at the end of the year.

In a Twitter post on Tuesday, a representative for Shelton writes, "Merry Christmas! Blake is in the studio working on his first ever Christmas CD. More info to come... <3 Team BS."
