So I’m standing, Opry Night, at CRS (Country Radio Seminar) 2014 and hear the guy on stage say “Gator & The Styckman”… and THEN our faces pop up on the jumbotron reciting “Helluva Life” by Frankie Ballard. The whole time I’m thinking, well here we go, bout to find out how stupid people think we are. J

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - (Feb. 26, 2014) Hollywood’s best will be recognized this Sunday night, and the Grand Ole Opry is ready to celebrate the acting talents of country music fans, artists, and on-air radio personalities whose work was filmed far from Sunset Boulevard.
The Opry’s Lights, Camera, Actin’ contest has invited entrants to perform a dramatic interpretation of a country song for a chance to win a trip to Nashville. One winner will be handed the Opry’s first Lights, Camera, Actin’ award later this year backstage at the Opry. Entries will be accepted through 4 p.m. this Friday, and finalists in three categories (fan, artist, and radio personality) will be announced via Opry social media and on opry.com Sunday night. Voting at opry.com will open Sunday evening and continue through March 12. Fans can submit and view video entries at opry.com/actin.
Songs “covered” thus far by fans and friends of the Opry are “Does He Love You?”, “Chattahoochee”, and “Helluva Life”, to name just a few. Celebrity and radio participants thus far include Janelle Arthur, Nashville’s Eric Close, Larry Gatlin, Love and Theft, Jeannie Seely, Bobby Bones (The Bobby Bones Show), Dex and Mo (US 101, Chattanooga), Gator and StyckMan (US 101, Chattanooga), and Charlie Mattos (650 AM WSM, Nashville).
