A New Hampshire man drove 40 miles with his teenage son stuffed in the toolbox of his truck because he didn't have enough room in the cab.

The 42-year-old father drove to pick up his three children from his ex-wife's house, but only had room inside for two of them.

To solve the problem, he allegedly had his 17-year-old son, who is 6-foot-3, crawl into the toolbox in the back of the pickup truck and then drove nearly 40 miles back to his home.

The man said the toolbox was left slightly open during the ride and he insists that his son wasn’t hurt and had even volunteered to ride in the toolbox.

He also claims he was only arrested after his daughter 'ratted him out' to child welfare authorities because she wants to live with her mother.

He was arrested and charged with child cruelty.
