"Blake Shelton’s Not-So-Family Christmas Special" premiered last nigh, and it included a claymation sketch in which animated versions of himself and Larry the Cable Guy go hunting and accidentally shoot Rudolph dead. (Other lovable Christmas-related creatures also buy the North Pole farm.)
Some people were offended. Here are a few comments posted on the Hollywood Reporter.com:
"With all of the violence in our country, the claymation, Rudolph and other characters being shot, was so inappropriate and insensitive. I typically like Blake a lot, but he crossed the line with that. He is better than South Park and all of the other trash on t.v. How disappointing!"
"I was very dissapointed and thought it was in very bad taste."
"I did too Sarah, I was crazy for Blake, but I think he made a BIG mistake, shoot! So disappointed :(..."
Others enjoyed the sketch, very much.
"Wow! absolutely hilarious!!! This was reminiscent of some Carol Burnett & Chevy Chase antics, yes, yes, there was some violence in the name of humor, but Jesus Christ! get over your selves. "It is not so much that we are bothered by things...but by the view we take of them."(Epictetus) I don't know if the "CHAIR" commercial skit can be topped??? I was laughing so hard and even minutes later yes OMG! I had a "hick- larious" time, I'm glad I watched. Go team Blake!"
"I peed my pants laughing. Anyone who follows Blake couldn't expect nothing less than dark humor, good music and a kiss for his wife. Spot on, great job> If it wasn't your thing, use the remote; if your kids were't in bed - shame on you."
** The show included also four duet partners: Kelly Clarkson, wife Miranda Lambert, Reba McEntire and Shelton’s mom, Dorothy Shackleford. Jay Leno shows up for a Skyped-in comedy bit
