More than 16,000 cars were stolen in Chicago last year. One guy took a drastic step to keep thugs from taking his ride… he bought a Boot.
The guy clamps a Boot on the front wheel of his car which prevents it from being able to move. He said he sets the boot on his car every day, even in his garage.
He has a 1994 Acura Integra, which is one of the car models that are most likely to be stolen.
He said he bought his boot on eBay. There are actually a bunch of boot locks for sale on eBay, and most of them are selling for about $100.
According to the city, there is no ordinance that outlaws citizens using a Boot, so it’s not illegal.
