A company (Fast Company) has come up with an external airbag made to protect cyclists and pedestrians if you run into them with your car.

The exterior airbags cover the lower part of the windshield creating a softer landing for a human skull flying through the air at 25mph.

A camera beneath the rear view mirror helps decide if the car is coming close to people or bicyclists, and if sensors detect contact….the airbag gets deployed.

One question that’s been raised is....  should drivers have to carry more weight, cost, and responsibility to protect cyclists?
