Nominations for this year's Oscars were announced yesterday, and "Lincoln" got the most, with 12.  "Life of Pi" was a close second with 11 . . . followed by "Silver Linings Playbook" and "Les Misérables" with eight.  The Oscars air Sunday, February 24th on ABC.  SETH MACFARLANE is hosting.

 

JUSTIN BIEBER is being sued for allegedly attacking one of his bodyguards.  Moshe Benabou . . . a former Israeli military badass . . . says Justin berated him and punched him in the chest multiple times.  Justin's people say Moshe is just a disgruntled ex-employee, and the notion that Justin beat on him is absurd.

 

The National Institutes of Health examined the brain of NFL legend JUNIOR SEAU, and found that it was pretty messed up after a 20-year career in the pros.  Seau committed suicide last May by shooting himself in the HEART . . . possibly so that his brain could be studied.  After the results were released, the NFL said, quote, "We have work to do, and we're doing it." 

 

"Gangster Squad" a 1949 mobster film and "A Haunted House" Marlon Wayans' horror parody are the big movies hitting the theaters this weekend.

 

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE posted a video on a site that's counting down to midnight, Sunday night.  In the video, he says he's "ready" to return to his music career.  It's unclear what's coming . . . but it's probably details on a new album . . . a single . . . tour dates . . . or some combination of those. 

 

BEYONCÉ has reunited with KELLY ROWLAND and MICHELLE WILLIAMS to record the first new DESTINY'S CHILD single in eight years.  The song, "Nuclear", will be released on an upcoming compilation album.  There's also talk that Kelly and Michelle will join Beyoncé during her Super Bowl performance next month.
